14.05.2010 - PROGRESS..
Olá! We have been a little lazy to update anything but that's just because we have been really busy with the record. We have a shitload of video material from these recording sessions but none of us have time to edit it now. Hopefully soon. But anyway, mixing has already begun, altough we haven't recorded all the stuff yet. We're doing this now in three different places. Ville has already done a lot of vocal lines and next week Miku will finish the bass lines. Wäinö Komulainen, the master sound guy started to mix drums and guitars a week ago in Keuruu and now as all the equipments have been moved to Lahti I will continue with him. And by the way, we're playing tonight in Liberte, Helsinki, so hope to see some of you there!!!

21.03.2010 - RECORDINGS STARTED
It's finally time to give you some news! Yes, we have started to record our upcoming second album. We promised to give you some videos from the demo sessions but as we all already know, it didn't happen. Anyway, now we have launched this studio blog and from here you can find some photos and even some videos about our progress. The first video is a short compilation about our demo sessions. It's not a visual piece of art but who cares.
Lets start with some facts. We wrote a plenty of songs for this album, it was somewhere between 17-23. In the final record, there's going to be 9. We don't have a title yet but I have spoken with Ville about the lyrics and we have a some kind of concept or should I say redline in our minds about the cover, song titles and so on. This time we actually have a co-producer with us in the first time of KtR's history. Janne Tolonen who is best known from Misery Inc. is co-producing this album with us.
This blog comes a little bit late because all the drums have been already recorded. We started these sessions in Am I Blood's leader Janne C. new studio in Kerava. So at first, the soundchek and other shit as always. Nothing special. But this time I had my brand new Pearl masters MMP with me and I have to say it sounds damn brilliant. Tomi was there to play demoguitars for me and acting as a night guard also because he slept only a couple of hours in the whole weekend, he has endless batteries. We finished 6 songs in saturday. Friday was dedicated to soundcheck because we were already late when we arrived. Anyway, in sunday morning we decided to continue in our own DarkFilth Brothers studio because we had some duties in Lahti. Actually we had planned to record all the guitars, bass and vocals anyway in our DFB studio so it was all good. |

So after one week we continued with the drums in the DFB studio. This was first time for me to record myself. A couple of days Tomi was behind the desk helping me out but all in all I worked by myself. It was really nice to play and record without any timetables. Actually when everything started to roll we decided to record all the tracks again because as always, we had some new arrangements for drums and for some songs. So because we weren't in any rush, I recorded my parts whenever I had a good feeling. It was pleasure to play but It was hard to act as a engineer in same time. But anyway, pretty nice session I would say. If someone is interested about my setup, in this recording it was: Pearl Masters MMP drums; 22", 10", 12", 16", Mapex black panther 14x5,5" deep forest walnut snare & Pearl Ultracast 14"x6,5" snare. I used a lot of different cymbals but primarly sabian & zildjian.
About the songs, in my opinion, this time we have a lot more different kind of parts in our songs if I compare to "Take Another Life". We have some fast stuff, aggressive parts, middlle tempo songs, a lot of melody, acoustic parts, even some keyboards, so I'm pretty sure this is going to be interesting mix.
Now we have a little break and we'll continue with the guitars in next weekend. Stay tuned!
